Michelle is very client-centered and likes to make herself easily accessible. Michelle has an empathetic approach when handling her clients’ cases. This approach comes from her own experience with divorce. Due to that experience, she has developed a mentality focused on minimizing the potential trauma that divorce can inflict on any children involved. She believes that in family law, “there is no winning for either parent, but there is a right way and wrong way to do it for the children.” Michelle is very driven and is never afraid of a challenge. Case in point; she had her daughter Christine ten days before starting law school and then her daughter, Samantha, during her second year of law school while she performed her judicial internship at the 4th circuit court of appeals.
During her time practicing in California, Michelle gained a lot of trial experience and was the first attorney in Los Angeles and Orange county to successfully get a Qualified Domestic Relations Order for a married couple. She has also collaborated on work for several litigated Trust and Estate Dispute Resolution Acts.
Michelle was born and raised in the pacific northwest before moving to southern California. While living in California, she practiced family law for 23 years before deciding to move back to Washington to take care of her parents. When she isn’t in the courtroom, Michelle enjoys the local trails while riding her quarter horse mare or taking in the fresh mountain air while skiing the slopes.
